On Tuesday, December 18, 1956, one of the longest lasting game shows in history made it's debut on CBS in prime time. The name of the new game show was "Nothing But The Truth". One week later, the name was changed to "To Tell The Truth". The show continued in one form or another for the next twenty-five years. The primus of the show was simple and to the point. A panel of four celebrities would try to determine which one of three contestants was in fact telling the truth.
In reality, that is happening in churches today. Now, the listeners are having to determine for themselves who is telling the truth because pastors everywhere are preaching and teaching things that are not even close to being the truth.
How did we get to a place where America's favorite Bible verse according to George Barna is "God helps those who help themselves" (not in the Bible)? We got to that place because preachers are reckless with the truth.
