PAST SERMONS
Ocean floors around the world are littered with some of the most famous shipwrecks in history: The "Lusitania" was sunk by a torpedo on Friday, May 7, 1915. The "Bismarck" succumbed to British attack in May, 1941 killing more than 2000 people. The "Mary Rose" capsized in a squall of wind on July 19, 1545. Only forty of the more than 700 on board survived. The "R.M.S. Rhone", a British 310 foot steamer sank in 1867 during a hurricane. The "General Slocum", a 264 side wheel steamer caught fire and sank killing more than 1000 people.
Of all the ships that have found the bottom of the ocean as a final resting place, none is more famous than the "R.M.S. Titanic". This "unsinkable" ship struck an iceberg on April 14, 1912 and sank two hours and forty minutes later killing more than 1,500 people. Only 706 survived.
In his new message series, Pastor Ron McCurry will examine three famous shipwrecks to find lessons that can be applied to everyday life situations. In message one, we will examine the similarity between "Titanic and America Today". Message two will take a close look at "Paul's Famous Shipwreck" in Acts 27. Message three will take a look at 1 Timothy on "The danger of Making Shipwreck of Our Faith". Join us on April 22, April 29, and May 6 for this exciting new series.
