Letters to the Next President

Blaise Pascal, a French mathematical genius ran from God for more than 30 years. After being profoundly converted on November 23, 1654 at 10:30 p.m., he wrote his testimony on a small piece of parchment and sewed it to his coat where it was found after his death eight years later. The last sentenced of his testimony concluded by saying, "Joy, Joy, Joy, tears of joy... Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ. May I never be separated from Him". Pascal also wrote, "All men seek happiness. This is without exception. Whatever different means they employ, they all tend to this end".

Society loves to peddle their brand of joy. They try to convince us that lasting joy can be found in a bottle, a pill, possessions, cars, jeans, jewelry, technology, and a multitude of other things. Unfortunately, the church today has fallen into this same trap. Many churches are peddling the same type of joy that the world is offering; health, wealth, and prosperity. The subtle message is that if you serve God and love Him, all of your worries will be over. You will always have plenty of money, you will never suffer, and all your relationships will turn out perfect. But is this what the Bible really teaches? In this new message series, Pastor Ron McCurry will challenge you to become a "Rebel" who finds joy in unexpected places.
