Grace is one of the greatest truths in the Bible. Comparatively speaking, grace stands as the Mount Everest of all truths. When God sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world, He was sending us a gift that we could never merit or earn and one which we certainly did not deserve. Grace is God doing for us what we simply could not do for ourselves. That is what grace is all about.
Our biggest problem as Christians today is that we are all prone to base everything in life on performance. To put it another way, we are all legalistic in our thinking and in our practices by nature. But when we consider the meaning of the word in Scripture, we immediately realize that performance and grace have absolutely nothing in common. Grace refers to the free, unmerited favor of God towards individuals who are undeserving. It is graciousness and favor shown without regard to merit or status
With these truths in mind, we begin a new series of messages entitled "Grace Anatomy - Stories of Disqualified People". By way of introduction, the first message will ask and answer the question, "What is Grace and Why Do I Need It?" The remaining messages will focus on individuals in scripture who were shown God's amazing grace. That is what makes grace truly amazing - the ability to qualify those who have been disqualified because of sin.
