I remember as a kid becoming very distraught whenever something was broken and did not work. Back then it was always some kind of toy. If I couldn't fix it, then it would be tossed.
Even today, I have very little tolerance for things that simply will not work. I have returned hundreds of items to the store because they did not work. Items that do not function properly not only lose their value, they also lose the purpose for which they were designed.
The Christian Faith is the same. If it doesn't work, then what good is it? If the gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation and is able to meet every single need in our lives, why aren't our needs being met according to the promise of God?
I believe the answer is simple. We have failed to teach "The Faith" in a way that is applicable to people's every day lives.
